Today our team had a presence at the LHV 2010 Engineer Expo Tappan Zee Our booth was placed right next to The Techno Chix's FTC team, in front of a FIRST logo. We amazed a bunch of little kids by engaging the robot's suspension, and scared a few with the loud "thwack" sound of the kicker. Some local high schoolers really wanted to be in a team, but their school didn't have one. Some adult engineers also asked some questions about our robot, and about FIRST in general.

Editor Note: Sorry for the lack of updates over the past month. Besides being busy during build season, our school accidentally placed our website on a filter blacklist, so we couldn't post any updates from school!
Our robot was mostly completed by the shipping date, but we didn't have enough time to mount the lifting mast to it. We ended up using our "Witholding Allowance", and carried it into the NYC Regional on March 12th.
Many programming and mechanical issues plagued our team. Forgetting to update our Driver Station to the latest version cause us to miss our first 2 matches. Then in the 3rd match, we realized our "Go-kart" style pneumatic tread tires gripped the field's carpet so well, the robot could not turn at all!
We placed 35th out of 64 teams in the qualification matches at the NYC Regional, and didn't get picked as an Alliance Partner by anyone. We still had a fun time, and hope to do better in many off-season events around the area. |

The 2010 FRC game has been announced! Called "Breakaway", the game has a distinct soccer theme. It is played with standard size 5 soccer balls, and the main objective is to score goals! However, the field has obstacles robots must overcome. 1 foot tall "bumps" run across the field, which may prevent robots from passing over them, or even cause robots to topple over. Bonus points are awarded if a robot can elevate itself off the ground and hang from a bar 7 feet high! Video after the break. |

UPDATE: Most of the site is back online, but some things may still not work properly. Everything should be back to normal within a few days. |
